Pipping?

The electricity is gone. Typical! I'm getting the generator sorted so will be ok hopefully. The air cells are slightly slanted but still no movement.

I will candle all of them a second time after it gets dark. The generator is working and humidity and temp are good. Is it common for quail eggs to quit right at hatching?

I candled there now, in nearly every egg I saw a happy shadow bouncing around in there, 1 was pipped into the air cell and others where starting to. I'm so happy!

Now that you know they're alive and just need time, go for a walk. Go to bed. Go do something other than hover over the incubator.

I'm going to bed now. Haha. But the humidity is at 51% hopefully it will rise a bit more

There's 1 pip it's tiny but it's there. The humidity is at 53%

Quail pips are ridiculously hard to see! My first eggs I was expecting pieces of shell to fall off and large holes as the internet shows for chickens. Just tiny hairline fractures or the least little crack. Sometimes they are easier to see if you shine a flashlight perpendicular to your line of sight. I’ve also had them go 60 hours between pip and hatch. Hard to wait!

They've started to wiggle a lot more and 1 is starting to make the pip longer so I think it maybe could be starting to unzip! When I whistle to them they wiggle. Are pieces of shell meant to fall off when they unzip cause the shell is kind of just sticking out? It's the top 1 on the left corner. The ones on thr orher side of the bars are probably infertile but i didn't want to risk it.
