i have about 30 Adult birds and 25 chicks and 3 geese...i have Light Brahmas, Polish, Marans and Ameraucana how would you number them or wich leg would you band for male and female and is there a one size fits all leg band for chickens also i have 3 sebbie goslings im wanting to band aswell....

I use zip ties. They come in a variety of sizes and colors and are easily snipped off with a nail clipper.

zip ties work, but for more permanent banding I prefer the adjustable metal bands. I only have 4-5 colors of zip ties and many more chickens so I use the numbered bands to keep better track. Some are banded with a metal band on one leg and a zip tie on the other, see, more options that way. Two hens that look alike are banded on opposite legs, righty and lefty. Etc.

I really like the ones I got from ketchum mfg. http://www.ketchummfg.com/c36/Adjus...ored-Aluminum-Numbered-and-Lettered-p468.html I got them with letters and numbers, put my name on them. They arrived REALLY fast expecially given that they were custom printed.
They have three holes for different sizes, I heard the holes are spaced to supposed to be "turkey size, cock size, hen size" but I size them up a notch for larger breeds like my BCMs. Basically they are flexible for different sized birds. You need special pliars to close them, but they aren't terribly expensive given that you only ever need one pair. (I keep them in the first aid kit so I don't lose them.)
