Placing different aged rooster and hens together?

    They are cuckoo marans, the rooster was hatched at the end of Nov.- beginning of Dec. and the 3 hens are 2 months old would it be ok to put them together now??

    Yeah you should be able to put them together. He will more than likely become top of the pecking order. So you may have a little squable at first. But you shouldnt have any real problems.

    You can try it. Use the normal trick of housing them next to each other for a while if you can. At those ages, the rooster is ready to be sexually active but the hens are too young. He will most likely not see them as hens yet, but he may. That's one way a rooster shows dominance. He may be a great flock leader to them and take good care of them until they grow up or you may have problems. It purely depends on the rooster. It is probably worth trying, but observe and be ready to intervene if necessary. As Mahlzeit said, there may be some pecking order issues, but as long as no blood is drawn, it is not a big deal.
