Planning to build my coop

Hi everyone I'm new to this back yard chicken thing so please be kind lol. I'm in Washington state and where I am planning to put my coop is uneven ground. I am planning to bring in some fill to level out the ground. What do you suggest for fill? Also what's the best type of chicken wire to use to keep predators out? Thanks in advance

Idk about the fill, but def. get hardwire screen and not chicken wire. Chicken wire is flimsy and can easily be bent and mangled.
And don’t do shavings.... get coarse construction sand and a kitty litter scoop... makes life 10x easier, plus no more buying grit.

Any fill material that isn't contaminated by chemicals is fine. Really depends on what you have an available budget for. Some slope is good to have, keeps the water from building up and making the run a swamp. They're going to scratch and tear up the ground quite a bit. The less space the worse it gets.
Before I answer anything specific on wire there are some things I need to know. What size area are you looking at? How many chickens? Do you have other pets that share the yard? What kind of budget are you using? ($ is no object, or make the most with the least) Do you want the coop in the run or attached?

We leveled out our coop with sand. and use hardware cloth instead of chicken wire.

I live in Tacoma so I can only have 6 hens no roosters allowed. I'd like my run to be attached to my coop.
