Plantain peels

I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I couldn't find it when I searched. I only found the plant plantain.

Can I grind up the peels from this morning's breakfast and toss it to my flock? 2 peels spread over ~25 birds. Or would this be a better treat for the worms?

Worms. It would be similar to a banana peel and mine won't touch them. I think there is something in them that is harmful as well.

Harmful? Hmmm...

I found a few sites that talked about using the peels (dried) as a portion of their meal, but no directions on raw. I'm not going through the trouble of dehydrating kitchen scraps.
