Planting a garden in chicken land.

I do lasagna gardening (layered beds). Every bed that I got finished making they would destroy......so i fenced off my garden from them. ocasionally I would let them in to take care of pests with my guidance and supervision. if they got cared away with scratching beds apart I would herd them out of the garden and close the gate. At the end of the season I let them all in there to help with the garden clean up. It was a fast clean up that i have ever done!! they made short work of it.

Remember to keep your roses INSIDE the chicken yard! They eat the japanese beetles like popcorn.

Herbs that the beetles don't even notice go OUTSIDE the chicken yard. This is a hedge of geranium, lavendar, oregano and thyme(s).

I've had chickens 3 years and I finally figured this out.

Took me awhile. Of this, I'm not too proud.

Also, I think my bantams do less damage than standard sized fowl.
