I live is Central Minnesota on five acres. Its very sandy throughout most of my yard. i see several raised gardens in my future. That is is the snow ever melts. I'm going to be getting my chicks in a couple of weeks so I'm trying to figure out what kind of grasses, clover, or whatever else I could plant where I live that the chicks will eat.

Look up pallet gardens. It would be your best bet to start with and pallets are often found free on craigslist. Compost all of the litter you clean out of your coop and after it is composted you can mix it in your sandy soil. If you keep doing this you will end up with great planting soil.
