I've heard about Marigolds and Mint leave plants are good for scaring rats and mice away. Would anyone out there know more about this.

Welcome to BYC!

Marigolds are pretty strong plants overall and most animals, including chickens won't touch them. They may nibble a bit on them, but won't devour them. I don't think they eat mint either.

Here is a link to a thread on things to plant in your runs for chickens to enjoy...

And here is one on toxic plants as well...

Enjoy all your poultry adventures and welcome to BYC!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! TwoCrows gave you some good links to check out. But even if the chickens won't eat them, they may very well destroy the plants just scratching around or picking at them.

Thanks I will look at these links. My idea is to plant on outside of my run. I have other plans for good eats inside. I have seen mice around and know the rats are some where. A friend told me about Marigold in her garden. It kept the rodents out of her tomatoes. Sounded promising want to know what BYC thinks.
