Which is better? I've heard mixed reviews, and I need to get a new waterer. I had a really cheap plastic one, and it lasted about 4 months, but I only paid $3.99 for it. Thanks

I have both. I like the galvanized metal waterer because I don't have to scrub the inside clean as often. I also like it because it's more durable.

The plastic waterer is nice and easy to use. You would have to scrub it more often but in my opinion it's worth it.

It just depends on what your needs are. I wiould go with plastic.

Plastic all the way! I used metal (both feeders and waterers) for about 8 years and switched to plastic maybe 2 years ago. Would never go back. A nice quality plastic waterer will last you 10+ years while a metal one rusts out in 5-6. And yes plastic is harder to scrub but if you aren't willing to scrub a waterer every 2-3 days you should have chickens in the first place, imo. I would highly recommend a style similar to this, as they are without a doubt the toughest and most sensible design available. I currently have 5 of them - 3 5 gallons and 2 3 gallons - and would sooner water my chickens with buckets than go back to metal.
