plastic red vent plugs on incubator

I have a Hova-Bator which has two vent plugs. I downloaded the manual from the GQF website. It tell the reason for the vent plugs and how to use them for your application. It doesn't say anything about removing them for oxygen, they are for controlling humidity. Simply, if the humidity gets too high during the hatch remove the plugs etc. If your incubator manufacturer has a website they should also be able to supply you with a pdf format instruction manual you can download and print out with instructions on when to take the plugs out or leave them in.

my first hatch was fail, and i believe now because i had a layering heat and humidity problem... i had it at 45% day 1-18 and raised it to 60% on lock down... now i've been incubating at 35-40% day 1-18 and tonight i'm gonna raise it to 55% for lock down...

i keep the vent plugs out, most of the time during the first 18 days, then plug them up to increase humidity, that just sound like it would be the thing to do

well i guess i am a typical male. Not wanting to read the directions.

Is it possible to have early hatchers on day 20? Just wondering if any could hatch early or not

Yes that can happen. Make sure you do not open the incubator till they are dry and all finished hatching. You can let the moisture out and the eggs can "shrink wrap". How are your eggs any chicks yet? Good luck!

boykin, what's up with the hatch?
