Platinum Sussex Help

Yes it would be lave meet in color. I don't know how stable the pattern is. I know in my flock of coronation silver Crosses there is a lot of variety in the pattern. I don't have the "platinum" yet I am at least one generation away.

These birds are made by crossing a silver Sussex and a coronation Sussex. It takes a couple of generations to replace the back lb the silver Sussex with the lavender on the coronation. The first generation is a black and white bird with penciled marking.
Yes, if so, then breed the get from the first cross back to the Light Sussex male. Do not breed the splits together or you will just get a mish-mash of colors. Or way too much silver on either the Lights or the Silvers. Do not breed the first cross males back to Light Sussex females. It needs the first cross pullets back to a Light Sussex male. But this will not get you Platinums, it will get you properly colored Lights and Coronations. . You need to talk to Art and Verse about Platinums.
Best,
Karen

Frankly, I think all this breeding back and forth between Lights and Silvers is a bit more complicated than just mixing silver, black, and white... because one is also crossing alleles. Silver(ER) and Light (eWh).
Now I could be wrong about this, I admit it needs further study, still I like to stay within my chosen allele to improve things.
Best,
Karen

mauve = sexlinked chocolate plus one dose of andalusian blue
platinum = one dose of dun (allele of dom.white) plus one dose of andalusian blue
khaki = 2 doses of dun

These 3 colors are very similar looking.

lavender is said to be epistatic to (=covering) both forms of chocolate and andalusian blue (the other blue). Also similar to the above.

Ok, then this is different than the PlatinumI was talking about. If the above definitions apply to your situation, then disregard what I wrote on the subject.

Thanks for the info guys. So, if I crossed 2 platinum birds would it breed true?

We have been breeding these colors and we keep putting the best of the Silvers back in to keep improving them.

They are Silver Sussex with the lavender gene being expressed.

In America, these birds are called "Platinum Marans".

If so, from what I understand Platinum has to carry both dun (allele of dom.white) and andalusian blue.

The Marans in the link you posted look to be the same pattern as a Delaware.
