We don't all see the same ads. THey are tailor made/posted for us by Google, based on other sites we have visited. I never saw that ad. I never go to any site that is even borderline racy. If you are seeing the ad then someone who uses your computer has been to a site that leads Google to beleive that you would be interested. (I see a LOT of shoe ads right now, because I have been looking for new boots online)

I disagree with your statement for obvious reasons, mainly your claim "someone" on our computers are going to racy sites. Completely untrue.

That ad was absolutely inappropriate for this site, which has minors posting.

And, I'm sorry, but only some of Google's ads are focused on what you search. Some are fishing. The whole idea that if you see a naughty ad it's because you are looking at naughty stuff is a myth.

I have a lot of experience in this space.

The ads that show really depends on the ad network that is being used and the tech behind it. These ads are not content targeted and I doubt they are behavioral / cookie targeted (sites visited in the past). My guess is that these are "remnant inventory" ads... basically the bottom of the barrel stuff when there's no other ad inventory to show.

Either way, we did NOT approve them, and in fact we've explicitly requested that any ads like this are not shown on BYC. Unfortunately sometimes they aren't labeled correctly by the ad networks and get through the filters.

Thank you. It's extremely rare that I see something like that ad, maybe only the second or third time.
