I think I have finally decided on the coop plans. I will follow the plans for the playhouse coop but add 12 inches on to the length of the coop making it 3x4. I'm going to add an outside nestbox, extend the wood to the bottom on the coopside for corner protection and use a wall mounted feeder and water container to save run space. Is a 24 square foot run adequate for 4 hens that free range part of the day? My urban yard space is limited. Thanks for your help

I'm not familiar with the coop, can you post a link or pic, please? It sound like adequate space if they are allowed some free ranging.

But you might as well kiss the landscaping goodbye and overbuild - because you WILL want more chickens!

I can only have 4 chickens in my city. The coop is the one on Byc small coop picture. I will also insulate it with pink foam and face it with plywood. I will also add a poop tray that I can pull out and dump each morning.

Sorry new to this--- The chick I will have are 1 wellsumer, 1 buff orp, 1 silverlaced wyandotte, 1 easter egger. Will they fit?

I used that coop as inspiration for my coop. Mine is similar the Playhouse Coop in terms of basic design but it's really a custom build with numerous changes. Check my BYC page for pics and info.
