My wife and I decided we'd like to get some chickens. We checked out the ordinance in our small town and we are allowed to infact raise chickens. We double checked it with our neighbors and now it's game on.

Now to my first question...

We really like the small playhouse coop designs that have been posted like the playhouse for Kathryn.

I'm pretty handy with most things and would say I have limited experience butchering wood, I was an ironworker for a few year so I'm familiar with reading prints, measuring ,etc.

Does anyone have a blueprint or some good pictures of the layouts of the playhouse coops?

I've gotten a fair bit of how put the coop together from looking at the pictures but I'd really appreciate some more specifics before I end up with just a heap of saw dust...and worst off some chickens living in a cardboard box

Thanks in advance.

We built our Playhouse Coop from Dennis' plans; and there are some detailed photos here ; it has a 4X8 foot print. We bought his plans because we had to submit blue prints to our town for our permit. His plans are $35 and I myself wouldn't really feel comfortable giving the plans away because its not fair to Dennis since he sells them, however, a lot of people have copied his design, and if you go to "Small Coops" section of BYC you'll many versions, some with drawings.

P.S.: here is on the Small Coops page that has drawings

Awesome!

I looked at like 50 of the coops and I didn't see that one!!!!

Look at Cluckingham Palace under the chicken tractor section. I used it as a model for mine, which you can also see if you look at my page. They are not playhouse coops, but are 4 foot high, 8 feet long, 4 feet wide and elevated. You could use the same plans for where to put the windows, doors, and nest box - yours would just be sitting on the ground instead of being on legs.
