i am new to chicken stuff and have ordered differnt eggs and chicks but i have a question for you... i really want the bigger breed of chickens, i just like bigger birds... what breed is the biggest breed... i have an idea, but i am not nearly as educated about chics as you guys....

Jersey giants are known as the biggest breed of chickens, closely following is the saipan junglefowl which is the exact size (and taller), maybe even heavier.. If you get them from the right people. But are poor layers, Cochins, and langshans are also breeds that get pretty good sized and lay fairly well. Also check into Brahmas.

I've had a Jersey Giant and she was the same size as my BBS Orpingtons! The Orpingtons get quite large as well and have great personalities! The buffs don't get as large as the BBS do though, so I'd go with the blues if you want BIG!

Hi there. Jersey Giants and Brahmas are both huge breeds of birds and come in a variety of colours. As far as I know both breeds are docile, calm birds which are suitable for a family environment. I have just bought a 1 1/2 year old JG Rooster and he is the most magnificent bird I have encountered for a long time. I also have two young gold brahma pullets and at 8 wks they are already much friendlier than my other chicks of similiar age. Best of luck whichever breeds you choose.

Brahmas are HUGE. I had/have feed store brahma and orpingtons, and Baby (brahma) was far larger than they are. Exhibition quality birds are generally considerably larger than hatchery quality.
