Please all- How do you keep your Nipple water-buckets from freezing?

I am using 2 gallon pails with nipples for my chickens water.

I am not sure I will be using a heat lamp this winter- so many conflicting ideas on that....

How do you keep these water pails from freezing please? What have you been doing? My first winter coming up and Im nervous.....

Well, to tell you the truth.. I don't. I heat waters and for the nipples I boil water in the morning and pour it onto their water.

I can't believe it's already winter... Hope Spring comes fast...
