Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself . . .

PS a lot of people (mostly non chicken) don't think time & money & effort should be spent on something that is "just a chicken." Ignore them. Those that say "put her out of her misery," are very wrong when the bird isn't acting miserable. I think onlookers just want them "offed," because they won't want to look at it. It makes THEM uncomfortable.

Tell them to take a hike!!

Never thought about the flies! What do I do? How do I keep them out? I read not to wrap the wound b/c it needs air to heal . . . and where I live, once the mosquitos arrive, they are nasty (live on the edge of a small river town)

How do I get permission to "Insert Attachments" . . . am prompted I don't have permission to do that? I'd like to post a couple shots of her wounds

Hello Everybody!

I think Joannie is going to make it - she's been laying an egg a day for the past 4 days! I keep spraying her wound and put a little antibiotic in her water. Should I throw her eggs away for a while, and if so, how long? They are so beautiful (as always), but thinking while she is healing and even the tiniest bit of medicine could make the eggs unsafe?

Also I tried to post some pics of her, but am prompted, I don't have permission to do that - so how does one go about getting rights to upload jpg's?

More advice please - thanks all . . .

You could maybe spray Blu-Kote on the wound???

I don't have any blue kote, but am using that spray ... she is back w/ the flock tonight, and no one is bothering her, but I will keep watching her through the day tomorrow . . . she's such an angel ... a pic of her wound is below ... it goes around her neck too, so this isn't all of it ... bless her heart, she is chipper and laying an egg every day ...
