(Please Awnser) should I take the quail eggs from the egg cartons and put them on there side and wh

Hello, Its day 8 and i was wondering if 2 days before the hatch i should take them out from the egg cartons and lay them on there side or leave them in the egg cartons with the pointy bit down and what does lock down mean also and when will they hatch ?

I've done it both ways and had similar results.
