Ummm....let me say this about that, lol. You always seem to have great info a the touch of your fingers. Hmmm, is that because you don't know what you're talking about and have to look everything up? Somehow I really, really doubt that. I'd make the bet that you have a whole bunch of stuff floating around in the grey matter between your ears that the rest of us would love to tap into. I know I would! Brains [in my best zombie voice]! Casportpony's brains!!!!!!!!! Lol, sorry, couldn't resist. You and Cowcreekgeek are my most utilized go to people. You could very well write something and add all of your 'proofs' at the end. Please think about this, you help so many people by going from thread to thread, this would give you a bit of a break.

Truth to the reading part!!! Again, been there.... There are so many knowlegable people on BYC and the longer you are on here the more you will recognize just how much they really do know. I try to follow some of them so I can continue to learn and maybe pass the help I have received back to someone else. Now here's an idea for you...do you know anyone that has one of the video baby monitors? If you could borrow one or find one cheap you'd be able to answer your questions. Most of these you can hook up to a recorder so you can watch it later. Just a thought. I've used one here to find out who the trouble maker was in my flock.

haunted 55 - i love the idea of a camera in there and was checking out ebay for a baby monitor yesterday but now im not sure ill need it!

So heres my weird goings on:-
as you all know i had that 'weird' egg and wondered if bombie had indeed laid it, well this morning i got my answer!

yesterday i had no 3rd egg and poop was still pink, today when i came down i could hear a right racket coming from the coop so rushed out to see what was going on, bombie came shooting out of the coop making such noise and flapping about all over! she leapt into the old coop, which has no bedding anymore, and started trying to dig! i quickly grabbed a blanket from the nest box and put it in with her, she made all sorts of noises and dug and turned around every which way, she didnt like the other hens jumping in to watch her so i closed the door to give her some peace, when i saw her come down the ramp from the kitchen window i rushed out to open the door for her and there on the blanket was an egg!!! exactly like the one in the photo! large and covered with with crust! so it def was hers!! and now shes done 2 in 3 days!i went to
inspect the paper from under the roost and theres no more pink poop!! so all in all im really pleased as i think laying eggs has to be a good sign healthwise right?! and no more pink poop! plus she seems still well in herself.only problem now is that the poop is still not normal, she seems to have passed a clear watery substance which is kinda gloopy, its hard to know if any of the normal poops were hers too but there seemed to be a lot of clear water soaked into the paper. and i saw a white watery poop in the run just now which had just a tiny tiny brown poop in the middle.all in all im happy but still a little nervous for her, im hoping the poop will return to normal form soon just without the pink! lol
any thoughts you guys?

just spoke to my vet and he dosnt want her to have the wormer now, he said he wants to wait these new changes out for a couple of days and see where we are then. he dosnt want to interfere with her body making its own corrections.
he is really pleased with this progress and seems to think she will get the poop back to normal herself. he's not sure what to think about the water gloop but thinks it may be a process of change so wants to see what happens to the poop over the next couple of days without any treatment.
has anyone given probiotics to their hens before? id like to know if giving them makes any changes to the poop? i want to give her the probiotic now but dont want to affect the poop! as im watching for it to be normal! lol oh my lifes so drama!! lol
Also just want to add, my chooks had their happy hatch day yesterday! now 1 year old! lets hope this next year will be a calmer one! lol

I'm glad Shell! This is really good news. The probiotics are for the gut. They are the little buggies any gut needs to function properly be it chicken or human or any animal for that matter. If it's going to change anything it will do it for the better! Probiotics are totally safe. You cannot give too much of them as the body will just dump what it doesn't need. Yogurt with the active cultures is loaded with these and even though milk and milk products aren't good for chickens, sometimes the good outweighs the bad. If you have the probiotics in 'medicine' form use that, stop any yogurt.

Medication name

Generic name: Metronidazole - Oral

Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
Side effects

Dizziness, headache, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, constipation, changes in taste, and dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. This drug may cause urine to darken in color. This is harmless.Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.

If you read this about the Flagyl, plus take into consideration why it was given to her, it's no wonder the poor girl has irritation inside. Her guts were being chewed up by the infection [think very severe yeast infection] and Flagyl can be harsh but effective. Then...she starts laying again, lol. Give that girl a hug and tell her she done good! Maybe a bit of a walk-a-bout, supervised of course, to brighten her day and yours.

Shell I gave the probiotics to Roger and Crew in their water. It came in a packet Merck's Blue Ribbon Poultry Electrolyte and probiotics. I didn't see any difference in the poops thereafter. All pretty much the same. Also know that the ACV also has one strain of probiotic bug in it. So if you don't have any others other than yogurt you've got the bacteria from the ACV helping you out and your chooks.

I've seen the clear gloopy before on my poop linoleum and assumed it was an egg malfunction of some sorts. Like a bit of the egg white or albumin coming down the tract ahead of hard shelled off portion. A bit of a "misfire" so to speak. That's what it sounds like to me. And maybe common when eggs are restarted or reproductive systems are getting worked out. I'm so pleased there is no blood. And if you see a bit tomorrow...I wouldn't worry as this healing bit takes it's time obviously. The next day it may very well quit again until there are more days without than with.

Oh but they do make us joyful and pull our hair out at the same time don't they?!

haunted55- that makes a lot of sense, thank you for the antibiotic info. i do have a special chicken probiotic so ill get that in them all in the morning :) i have to mix it with pre boiled water and give in food first thing in the morning so thats my plan for tomorrow.

bogtown- the egg white sounds like a good possibility, thats exactly what it looked like! strange my brain never connected it

i also have the acv in the water but didnt realise it had a bit of probiotic in it, very glad to find out thou! :)

thank you all for your help through this xx hopefully she will continue to just get better and better from here on out! shes doing great and once this poop resolves itself she will be in tip top health.
i know the crop will never be 'right' but the crop bra is working wonders, and for now the crop seems to be functioning just fine. like you said haunted, you have special needs birds that dont know they are special needs! i love that! and im sure my bombie will be just the same, shes my little fighter

i will update on the poop situation just to hopefully have a nice close to this thread with a full recovery and happy ending. oh i do love a happy ending for these lovely birds!

Something I should have mentioned before, not sure if Bogtown or Casport did or not...the ACV should keep her from ever having trouble with her crop again. Oh she's not going to get rid of the extra flap but the ACV will keep the crop healthier with less of a chance for the wrong kind of bacteria to go boogers. Use it faithfully and you'll be fine.

As for the clear stuff, you and Bogtown mentioned, I've seen that as well. I thought the same thing and since it cleared up, I have no reason to believe otherwise now. Sometimes you have to take things on faith and just watch and wait. I'm waiting for my happy ending......
