Ugh. Now Zin's gone. Someone else take over!!
He shook his head tiredly. "I was commissioned to come here on account of a neighborhood report. Now, I don't know if it's true or not, but..." He cleared his throat. "Chief Andrew Bryant called this home earlier today, Mr. Phillips hung up on him. I came over so I could have a talk with him."
"He ain't 'ere," he said, slowly shutting the door.
Officer Hudson opened his mouth in disbelief, hammered on the door and then, finding no one opened it, stomped back to his car. As he started up his engine he called the chief privately on his cell phone. "Bryant," he sighed. "We have a case. A young man opened the door, and then shut it in my face when I asked about Phillips." He nodded. "Okay, chief. Will do." With that he drove roughly out of the driveway and zoomed away. Ten minutes later he pulled into his own driveway and went inside. He was going to take a nap.
