Hi everyone--

Here are a couple of photos of my 4-5wk old BA "pullets". Old "Daisy" started growing a slightly pink comb last week and it is quite a bit larger than her sister's. Other than that they have the same tail feathers, body size, body feather development, leg size and mannerisms/demeanor. They would actually be twins if not for the comb. The pictures dont really do much justice due to the flash washing out the coloring but the comb is just slightly pink. What do you think--should I start searching for boy names (my three year old wants to name it Moose!!) or is there still a small glimmer of hope that Daisy will remain "Daisy". By the way is there any trick to get a chicken to sit still for a picture??

Cockadoodle dooooo!

Who knows for sure? But, the earlier reddening and larger comb than same-aged brooder mates certainly suggests roo. A little more time will probably confirm it.

I think I may have picked up a barred rock roo from the feed store. And get this, I bought all black sex-links. I missed that white spot on the top of its head until I got home. Oh well. It's all good.

Cute kids, btw. Four daughters and two granddaughters, myself. My son and I are surrounded by women! Even the cat is a girl.

Yup, I definitely think that's a rooster because of the comb. That's how we figured out our RIR was a rooster.
By the way adorable chickens:D!
