We have our first chicks! :) We have three 3week old chicks and are starting to think about coops for when they move to the backyard. We have limited space and budget right now and we won't be building it ourselves. Here is an add I found on craigslist, but before I go for it I was hoping for some expert feedback! I'd be so grateful if you could click the link, look through the pictures provided and tell me if you think this is a good coop. Thank you so much.

Why is it built so that the roof opens? Is that a concern in any way? Also, what do you think of the roosts and of the screen floor? I guess we could make some adjustments ourselves. It's a great deal and I'd love for them to just come put it together and it be ready to go!

Here is a pic from the add if that link doesn't work.

that looks like a really good coop but to me the nesting box looks really high off the ground. the roof probably has hinges so it can close. because it has the run underneath you can put them in there for short periods of time if you need to mow the lawn or something. the roosts are fine and because the acual sleeping area is sheltered and closed the screen is fine. besides you dont have to climb in and clean it out all you have to do is pull the floor out, dump it out and add new bedding.

A friend has this coop, while it looks gorgeous, it's rather thin wood, the 'run' isn't to big, but would probably be ok for 3 chickens. I say go look at it, and decide from there..for the price I think you might be able to find something more sturdy..but it is a nice coop..

Do you know of any others that are better but in that price range?

I found another I liked, about the same price BUT they wanted $200 for shipping! Plus we'd have to put it together ourselves. This one comes with delivery and install for the price.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Keep it coming. Looking to spend $400-$600. Something big enough for 3-4 chickens (they will free range a few hours a day). I'll liky add onto the run, but do want coop and run to start.

Its nice but We never,NEVER pay over $85 for a coop/pen/tractor n all have come off craigslist.I just cant see putting $100s of $ into something for chickens.but im very FRUGALE...

I don't have much input on this particular coop, but make sure whatever you get is recommended for more chickens than what you expect to have. Trust me, you're going to want to add to your flock by the end of the year because chickens are so fun. Make sure you have the room for flexibility.

It is exactly like the prefab coop I bought last year. It looks cute and is fine with weather most of the year.If winters are nicer were your at it would probably work. Two things I didn't like were, assembly sucked but the listing covers that and the slide-out tray jammed up so it doesn't work. I had 4 LF in mine and it was to tight 3 would be more comfortable or maybe bantams.
