6 dogs- 2 gsps very fast for miles,1 chessy tougher than a pitbull wolf cross, and 3 beagles ,my trackers, a battey spotlight,a 22 w/scope and one with open sights,both are semi autos 15 shots each 1- coyote 3 red foxes 19 racoons as of today could be more! 17 possoms 1-dog, lost over 40 birds about 800 bucks! and we don't talk about the hawks!!!!! we are up agianst the forest 120 ft douglas firs we also have big cats and bears! we are talking about adding a red bone pup to the mix, that would pick up the pace about 30 % we will defend the farm as always tom!!!!!!

I'm new, but I've got to come down in the hunter of the predator camp. I figure that they came to dinner... they just end up on the menu instead of the guest list. I either let the birds eat the critter, or I let them eat the maggots. It's a kill or be killed world out there.

Ours were attacked once when our Barnevelder rooster was just 2 months old. The raccoon got into the run via a small hole and dragged the rooster out by its neck. At this point I came out and startled the raccoon into letting the chicken go. I ran and got the hand cultivator and hit it 3 times solid with the sharp pointy bits. Remarkably, it didn't seem to do much. The raccoon creeped out of an even smaller hole and escaped. Three weeks later it came back and I saw it before it got to the chickens. I chased it up a tree, threw rocks at it for 30 minutes and then soaked it with the hose. It was winter and I think it didn't like that very much. It hasn't been back since!
