Well, I forgot when I got my chicks (duh) so called MPC and they are 4 weeks old and not 3 weeks. I got 4 female BO chicks. Well, one of them opens its mouth really wide like it is yawning or something but no sound comes out. Is this normal or a sign that my "female" chick is trying to crow!!!!

not that I know of...

it's just a yawn, thingy, I see chicks do it all the time

I don't think it means anything

some of my chicks did that, and they all turned out girls

Yup. They're just rearranging food in their crop.

Question....Do female chick have the little buds for spur on their legs or just male have them?

I am trying to tell the sex on my chicks.....

You can't tell the gender by looking at spurs as both roosters and hens can get them. Though they will be mature by the time they start growing.

Thank you all!!!

I was a bit worried as I have never seen that behavior before. Of course, this is the first time I have kept the chicks in my upstairs office and not the basement.....

I just moved the girls outside today to their new coop! I am a nervous wreck but I am sure they will be fine. They have tons more room and I plan on leaving them in for a week.

Wish us luck!!!
