Please explain the lavender gene to me!

Lavender is the same thing as self blue, correct? Does it breed true, unlike normal blue? Thanks for any help <3

lavender and self blue are the same thing I think(or pretty close), both breed true unlike regular blue.

Old english game bantams come in self blue/lav and regular blue(the one that does not breed true). Cochin bantams also come in blue(not sure of the self/lav tho). Oh, and Ameraucana bantams come in self/lav and blue.

Porcelain is lavender also. Unlike blue, lavender also dilutes gold to a paler shade. In fact, porcelain IS a lavender version of mille fluer.

A solid lavender chicken is simply a black chicken with the lavender diluting the black.
