i have been seeing people refer to spouses/children as dd, dh and so on. but what does that stand for
DH= darn husband?
i am sure it is an easy answer but this one is way over my head

LOL! It's Dear Husband...at least in my case. As far as DD...yup sometimes it's dear, and sometimes it's darn daughter!

Someone had posted a long list of abbreviations one time, but I don't know what became of it. Here are a few you might see around here:

chicken abbreviations/shorthand:

RIR Rhode Island Red
BO buff orpington
BR barred rock
BBS blue black splash
PR plymouth rock, maybe partridge rock
WL white leghorn, BL brown leghorn, etc.
SLW silver laced Wyandotte

SF Salmon Faverolle et al ....

ACV Apple cider vinegar
BOSS black oil sunflower seed
DUW dial up warning (means lots of pictures or a BIG file)
IMHO in my humble opinion

There are SO MANY more but these are some that you'll come across regularly. Sometimes if you see one that's unfamiliar, you can figure out what it is by the context of the conversation and the replies posted. Hope this helped a little, and hope to see you around the forum!

Reminds me once of a test I took.

I'll admit, I failed.

A former Junior High School teacher who I worked with as a college student during the summer at a cherry processing plant came in one day and asked what the following initials stood for:

DOB

He had just been talking about a woman that was very difficult to get along with that worked on the line he supervised.

On a piece of paper I wrote (I kid you not) Da**ed Old *itch.

He then said, now why on earth wouldn't you say, "Date of Birth"?

I was so ashamed and went red and they all got a good laugh.
