On the left is a Pekin egg, on the right?? It was in the yard and covered in poop. The shell is rough and feels thinner than a regular duck egg but it is hard.

do you have any wild birds like grouses or anything like that

Looks like a fairy egg, also known as a fart egg or oops egg. Crack it open and you will probably have no yolk.
