Just hatched the first chick of my new clutch.
Please take a look at photos and tell me if this chick's in trouble.

It seems as if there's yolk there attached though. It was a natural hatch with no intervention. In the photo it's kind of sitting on the yolk which is attached by a mucous string.
I'm an over anxious mum at the best of times.

leave them in there till they're nice and fluffy and the rest of the yolk sac will be absorbed over the next 48 hours or so. congrats on the new additions

The blob has detached from the chick. Looks like there's no blood in it. It looks like a glob of yolk - the chick is moving around well and looks strong so I'll keep my fingers crossed and leave her alone to rest and dry up

I’ve had a few hatch with yolk or cord remnants still attached. It dries up or absorbs (yolk) and they all grew into happy healthy hens! So your little one should be just fine. Be sure to leave him/her in the incubator to dry up! Good luck
