Good Afternoon,

I purchased 6 Barred Rock "pullets" from tractor supply. They are 6 weeks now and all of them are starting to get small waddles. Most of their combs are still yellow for the most part. there is one that is a bit redder than the rest, but not by much. Did I get stuck with 6 roos?

(Photo of yellow/copper chick is for reference, he is 6 weeks also and his comb/waddles are much larger than the Barred, but i dont know his breed)

Thank you so much for your time!

They all look like girls to me but I am no expert. At the very least I don't think they are all roo's. You may have one or two but I'm not sure, for the most part they look like girls- or at least so far.

Thank you so much for your reply! I am sitting here nervously waiting folks to comment. LOL

Barred Rock roo's tend to have more white than the girls
Yeah, thats what I thought too. Their combs/waddles have me worried. Its my first time with BR. I have some other breeds, but i wanted to try for Black Sex Links babies... I need ladies to do that first LOL

I wouldn't worry about it too much... yet! I have an easter egger who is part barred rock who started growing a comb and was at about the same stage of waddle/comb development as yours when she was about 6 weeks, we thought she was a roo for the longest time and then she ended up being a girl.
