About 4 days ago I found 2 duck eggs in a pond, close to shore. There were no ducks around but I decided to wait a day before taking action. There was 1 duck egg that was on shore, that I feel must have gotten eaten.( I’ve inserted a picture). I have hatched duck eggs before so I knew that this egg was near to hatching but not close enough. Anyways I took the 2 eggs home and candled but I saw no veins nor movement. When I candled it looked like this.( ive inserted a pic) I’ve kept them in a homade incubator but everything is the same. Keep in mind the past few days have been 50-60 degree weather and who knows how to cold the pond water was😬. The eggs have a slight smell but I can’t really tell right now. But today I noticed 1 of the eggs has these weird dots that are dark(I’ve inserted pictures). Can someone please tell me if the eggs are viable or dead!? I would also like to know what the weird dots are. Thank you!!

I’m also concerned about the second egg as well.. I’ve started to notice just now that there are some white circular things on the shell. Does anyone know what this could be? And is this egg viable?

If you don't see any sign of life I would say they are past gone, you can keep them in there if you want for a few more days just to be sure, if you want.

ok thank you for responding! If I don’t see any progress I think I’m just going to let go of the eggs. I had hope for the eggs up until today when I noticed these strange spots. Thanks again, I’ll update later!

Those look like rotten eggs and keeping them in your incubator could cause them to explode. It will not smell good! If the eggs were underwater the embryo could not survive. Baby birds”breath” or have gas exchange through the egg shell. Sorry, but I would get rid of those eggs ASAP.

Will do, thank you for the information and tip! The whole situation with the eggs and the pond still is confusing me! I don’t understand how the eggs were pretty much matured even though they were in the water! Thanks again! :)
