PLEASE HELP AND ADVISE.

I have a 7 month old Buff Orpington hen who is alive but very lethargic. After I found her lying on her side in the chicken yard I picked her up and checked her for injuries or mites or lice. She is alert, but can't walk.

Any ideas about what could be wrong with her? Does anyone suggest a treatment? I have on hand B-12 and bovi sera. This is the 3rd hen from that bunch of 15 that has gotten sick, the others died.

When did the others die? Were they vaccinated for Mareks disease. That is a virus that can cause paralysis, wasting, and tumors. Other diseases can look like Mareks. Could she have eaten anything like an animal carcass or rotted vegetation? Can you inspect your feed for any off odor or color that could be mold? I would use a poultry multivitamin with electrolytes, and place her close to her food and water. I would contact your state vet in the morning to ask about getting a necropsy, and testing for Mareks if she dies. Sorry that you are dealing with this.
