Hi, our baby chicks are just over one week old and today I noticed that one of them had a white pooey bum. I thought it was pasty butt so we cleaned it off but then more kept coming out. Not a huge amount, just constant. She's also pecking A LOT at her butt, and after about 1 hour, she had pulled out so much of her fluff :( I'm so worried about her. She started getting really lethargic and standing in the corner which is not like her. Don't think she can sit cause of her butt. I gave her a little bit of egg because I read that it might help. She ate quite a bit then which surprised me and ran around for a bit but then later seemed a bit off her food. I'm worried that she has coccidiosis :( I live in Germany now and I don't know what to buy here that will fix it. I will check on her through the night but maybe someone has some suggestions of what I can do? I would very much appreciate it.
She is living inside. The other 4 chicks are fine and running around scratching. We tried to separate them as I didn't want the other chicks to get sick but she got so lonely and sad we had to put them back together again.
Her poo is just white and liquidy and it's kind of leaking out but her vent is fairly clear.
I am feeding her the feed that the chicken man here in Germany gave us and he said it would be fine. They are living on wood shavings.
I hope someone can help. Thanks!
Pippa.

Thanks so much for your quick response! It doesn't look like vent gleet as her poo it solid white but it might be the baby chick version of it? I will look into gentian violet or blue-kote first thing in the morning and see if I can find it!
Thank you!

Hi it will really help this chick if you can get her on a probotic.a really good one is called probios and can be ordered off amazon.com. Some tractor supplies carry it. She has a imbalance going on in her gut and the probotic will help balance with good bacteria. I myself discovered the probios probotic when my chick had pasty butt. Within a short time of using the probotic she was cured and had healthy stool.i use it daily now in my flocks water and I've not had any trouble with loose stool. Thank God! It works wonderfully. This will correct her problem. If you can't find the probios, tractor supply carries a vitamin probotic mix called "poultry pro vita" I would get that if you can't find the probios. You put in their water and it's good for the whole flock. Much better than yougart because it's milk free and has more beneficial bacteria in it. The sooner you can get her on a probotic the better. Blu kite will help her sore bottom but to fix her problem probotics will be your best answer. I hope this helps you out and wish the best for you and your flock

Thank you so much! This is great info. Ah, I'm so anxious and it's so relieving to have this forum to be able to get some wise information! Ok, now my problem is, my little chick isn't drinking ANY water now, even if I dip her beak in it. But she is still eating a bit. Do you think I can put it in her food? And if I can't find any probotic for chicks in Germany, do you think it would be beneficial to put human probotics in her water or none at all? I understand it might be too strong, but you never know. Thanks a million. Pippa

Yes, I have coconut oil on the shelf! Should I give it to her to eat or should I rub it on her pore little sore bottom? Excuse my naivety. Pippa.

Well, I thought I should update you in case someone else has the same problem. My poor little baby didn't make it :( Oh it was so saaaaad. I took her to the bird specialist twice. They gave me medicine and we were feeding her crushed up food and water with a syringe. On the second visit, the vet squeezed a big bit of poo out of her but I think it was just too much for her and she passed away that night :( Thanks for all your help in the matter.
