still on our first hatch. It is day 22. I have a buff laced polish that has pipped at 2:14 am. There has been no progress after the pip corners where push off since that time. I just checked again and it looks like it lost its egg tooth. If it did can it still hatch? The poor thing is now starting to mouth breath. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can slowly enlarge the hole as long as you don't see any blood. Take it slow. Generally I free the head if there's no blood than leave it for a bit to see if it kicks out. You definitely don't want to help if it's still absorbing the yolk.
Thank you. So you think it does look like it has lost it?

I can't see enough from your photo to judge that, and I don't know if it's possible to lose it as it's just a bump on the beak top.
As I understand it, the egg tooth hardens 3 days prior to hatching. It falls off soon after hatching.

Idk, still can't really tell...looks like a little bump is there? Granted, it doesn't look like you would normally see an egg tooth look like.
Are you keeping the membrane moist with some coconut oil? It looks like it's starting to dry out.
