PLEASE HELP cats using my garden for their toilet!!!!!!!!!

Here in the pacific northwest we have a wild annual geranium that cats hate. The roots smell just awful though the plant itself has no real smell. I let them grow where ever they pop up. Maybe look around to where they are not pooping and see if there's a common denominator. That might give you a hint. You can still lay down the chicken wire in your vegetable area if you're worried about contamination. Someone else mentioned the motion detection sprinklers... those work great too though they cost. It's possible there isn't a single solution for your entire yard, you may have to find different solutions for different parts of your yard. I dunno.

Here's the strangest remedy I've ever heard. I have a neighbor two doors down that was having the same problem. She was told to put several water bottles in and around her plants, just laying on top of the ground. (Full water bottles, just the cheap store brand) I thought she was nutty to believe it, and told her so.(We're friends so she wasn't annoyed with me) She swears she has not found anymore "tootsie rolls" in her beds. That was about a year ago, I keep looking to prove her wrong, and by golly I can't find any in her beds either. The only problem is that when someone comes to visit and doesn't know about the bottles they will pick them up thinking they were dropped, well and they are kinda ugly laying in the yard.

Some of the feral cat colony here decided to use the strawberry bed for their potty!! YUCK!!!

Solved it with the chicken wire over the ground. In winter just pulled up the wire after the leaves die back a bit.

Come over this way, this was a topic we tried to figure out last spring: http://www.TheEasyGarden.com its BYC's sister site!

Anyways, I made covers for the soil with chicken wire woven around a brace and just lay it down on my garden. Messes with their paws, so they go elsewhere. They keep coming back because its good turned soft soil they don't have to work hard to dig to go. We have like 10 strays in the neighborhood so I know you're frustration...

None of the sprays have EVER worked (but my BB gun occasionally has!!!)
