hello folks. I have a hatchling that isnt thriving like the others. it wants to walk but cant hold its head up. i dont want it to starve. its cold so ive got it on a covered heating pad since between by breasts didnt do the trick. any advice would be great. i have it in the house with me since my hens (pekin and swedish) wanna step all over it. when it started hatching i kinda helped but really thought it would have died thru the night. all 5 of our ducks are diff breeds. could this just be weak? the drakes are a magpie and cayuga. i have a runner in the house as well as a cayuga peking cross from our first clutch. this is only our 2nd and will be our last. its too heart breaking. please if anyone has any tips on saving this lil ones life please tell me. its peeping and opens its eyes but keeps them closed and just wants to lay there.
thank you in advance.

He does just appear to be weak. Keep him warm, and make sure he eats and drinks. Give him wet mash, scrambled eggs, and yogurt if he doesn't seem to want to eat. I'd also try giving him some sugar water using an eyedropper. Just drip the water on to his beak, and hope that he swallows. If you have them or can get some, give him probiotics and electrolytes.

thank you sooo much Wyandottes7. I have dubbed the lil one Tugboat. Tug is what he did@ my heart. he seemed to get stronger everyday. now he's just as obnoxious as the other 3 from his clutch. we have horses so i had electrolytes on hand. from all this one on one time he's def imprinted on me. when i take Tug outside he stays right under foot. im sooo grateful for your info. now i have another concern about Tug. he seems to have a bald spot on his crown that gets bigger and bigger. he eats drinks and swims like Clown,Holland,&Spark and they dont pick on him but i just cant figure out wth hes bald lol. he has been since i hatched him. thanks again for helping me save Tugs life
