Greetings my fellow chicken lovers, I have had chickens for several years but due to a bad case of cabin fever and record snow in PA, I have built an incubator. I just can not wait for spring to hear the joyous sounds of peeps. I have the eggs in a carton, the carton in a wire basket attached to a pole to tilt from side to side. My question is do I tilt them side to side three times a day or do I tilt to the right, 8 hours later keep them flat in the center, and 8 hours later tilt to the left ? Any thoughts??? Thanks

WELCOME TO BYC!!

You need to tilt from side to side 3-4 times a day. A mother hen simply 'rolls' her eggs to move them and probably moves them much more often than 3-4 times a day, but you just want to keep the membrane from sticking to the shell.

Good luck and have fun in that snow. It will all be gone in a month or so.
