Hi! I think I have the species right and I'm hoping both are girls, but they do fight like boys. Can an expert weigh in? I can try to get better pics later. I think they are around 5-6 weeks old.

Thank you! I don't realize the other one was not the same breed!Hard to tell. They both look like pullets to me though. And only the one that is black is an Australorp. The other one is hard to tell.
Your welcome. The other one might be a mutt.Thank you! I don't realize the other one was not the same breed!

Species is different from breed. Their species would be the chicken, and the black one's breed would be Australorp.I think I have the species right
Australorps naturally have that body shape a believe, but I can see the reddening comb now.The Australorp looks like a cockerel to me with that big body, huge legs and reddening comb. The other one is definitely a mixed breed.

Australorps are heavy, I agree, but there is a difference in the body of males and females, like in any breed.Australorps naturally have that body shape a believe, but I can see the reddening comb now.
I'm sorry yes.The Australorp looks like a cockerel to me with that big body, huge legs and reddening comb. The other one is definitely a mixed breed.

I don't typically see a lot of difference in body that young though.Australorps are heavy, I agree, but there is a difference in the body of males and females, like in any breed.
