Expert chicken friends, Poor Pretty Penny, my ameracauna green egg layer, has a prolapsed uterus! I'm not sure how old she is, but she's over 4. What next! I've tried gently pushing it back in. The first time after I did so, she laid an egg, so I gave her another bath and pushed it in again, but then she pooped. I'm not sure I'm pushing it back in correctly. Anyone have experience with this who would be willing to help me? Help!!! What is best to put on the inflamed red tissue? Preparation X or Honey, or...? I'm feeling heartsick and at my wit's end.
I don't have experience with prolapses but generally they say to keep the tissue moist, either honey or prep H. I've read that sometimes it takes a while before they stay in, so hang in there! Hopefully someone with actual experience will see this.
