I was hoping someone could help me gauge what the humidity is. I realized my hydrometer wasn't working on lockdown when I increased humidity and it didn't budge.

Hatch day is today.

Here are the stats. The 'bator is in a room (basement) that I normally run a dehumidifier in. I turned it off from day 1. On lockdown I filled all reservoirs, have 2 thin wet sponges cut in half laid in there. When that didn't move the humidity (didn't realize the hydrometer wasn't working at this point) I put a large plastic bin filled with water under the 'bator so the in-take holes are within the area of the bin (can you visualize this?...the bin is just slightly smaller than the base of the 'bator). I have *some* condensation in one of the windows along the edge. Based on all of this can anyone give me a clue to how you think my humidity is doing?

What does it take to get your humidity up? I'm shooting for 65-70%.

What are you hatching out????

If you see condensation, unless you're hatching ducks and geese and turkey, I'd back off the extra water. Another possibility and I've done it from time to time is to run a humidifier but not so close to the incubator as to make it spike. After this hatch, if you'll send me a pm, I'll send you links to calibrate your thermometer and hygrometer. Good luck!!!

Yep, forgot to mention, they are chicken eggs. And thank you so much. I guess I won't worry too much about it then. They're peeping like crazy in there and my mind is just going a mile a minute not knowing what they humidity is. "are they stuck in there?...can they move freely?...if they pip is it gonna dry out in there?.... so many things running through my mind. You've put it at ease. Thanks.
