Just when things in both of my coops start going great something else seems to happen
:he:barnie:he:barnie

My hen Hei Hei seems to be balding on the area below her chest.

She has dandruff, I checked her along with the rest of the flock for lice and mites but didn’t see anything. She’s the only one that has this . I recently in the past week have discovered the rat problem that worries me. I keep thinking about the diseases and lice and mites and all that stuff that comes along with them and I’m not gonna lie, I’m freaking out!!!

Basically my question is can anyone tell what’s going on with my girl? Hopefully these pictures are good enough. It was so hard to hold her and take a picture with my phone all by myself. :hit

I was hoping that was the problem since roos can pull out feathers when mating. I am just not sure if you checked for mites and lice, dandruff is very normal. @Eggcessive or @staceyj might have better advise.
Maybe I didn’t check good enough or I’m missing something :he

Any advice on checking for the live and mites??

Has your chicken molted recently? They can have dry flaky skin especially during and right after molting. Lice usually can be seen under the vent as tiny moving bugs when parting the feathers. There may be clumps of white eggs at the base of feathers.
