Hello, yesterday morning we had a lone, young hen show up in the yard. My dad coaxed into the pen and now she's trying to get along with six others that are about 14 months or so.
Not sure what breed she is and hope you can help us identify.

Thank you!

Something game based.
Monitor your birds health, closely.
Ideally , there should be a 1 month quarantine time before the birds even see each other to make 100% sure they're healthy.
Ask the neighborhood if someone is missing a hen.

Yes. I understand all of this and have asked around locally - online and by word of mouth. We have 12 years constant / daily experience with small flocks and are always conscious of their safety, health and wellbeing. Our hens are very happy and healthy.

Are you familiar with the breed in the photo?

She is pretty. Want a cockerel to go with her? I don't know what breed he is, possibly a mixed game breed. I have too many cockerels and he needs a home. I'm in southern Louisiana too, Slidell to be more specific. 20250616_172300(49).jpg 20250616_172300(31).jpg

Well, I'm quite close to Slidell (Northshore even😉) ...and while he's quite the handsome one, I unfortunately can't take a cockerel in our current setup.
Thank you! and I agree that she is a pretty girl .... I hope she settles down and they can get along easily. I'm prepared to isolate but only have one spot that I can use so far to do so but I have a couple others that are becoming broody and also may need to go to the separate "pen within the pen."
Quite nice to hear from a local South Louisiana enthusiast!

I agree, doesn't seem to be a whole lot of us on here. I just started raising chickens in December and I'm totally hooked. Who knew this city slicker from New Orleans would be interested in raising chickens, lol.
