PLEASE HELP if you can

I totally agree, especially if she is using her legs in the water then she isn't paralyzed. She is a fighter and your helping her, hopefully the water therapy will continue to get her legs stronger and she'll be able to stand and walk... please let us know how her progress is going and her set backs too. We'll be pulling for her and for you to make the best decision. They can really climb right into our hearts. Hopefully the vet will be able to determine exactly whats wrong.

Can you please tell me where to get niacin for geese? I am not sure if this is correct but I believe I read somewhere while researching that Black Sunflower seeds have niacin? I bought a small bag of hulled Black sunflower seeds and have been putting it in her food.
I called the vet and a farm call will be $65 and THEN the person that makes the farm call is NOT a certified Vet......also she does not have much experience with birds......so I am thinking that will be a huge waste of money. I would rather spend that money to make Zippy some kind of chair that I can slip her legs through so they hang, where her breast is supported and when she poops it lands on the ground. We will put her food and water right in the front so she can reach it and I will put wheels on it that lock. Possibly making her more comfortable and this will allow her to be where ever I am in the barn or outside.
I think she felt better yesterday because she got to bathe......after all they do like to be clean and with her being confind to a large dog crate she is laying in her waste. I also worry about her hurting a wing when she moves herself. In this chair I want to have my husband build she can spread her wings anytime she wants and not catch them.
She seems to have good circulation. I just think she would be better off with her legs hanging because she CAN move them, then this way I can rub them daily so they don't dry up and maybe do some physical therapy.......
I have noticed that Zippy does not like cold water right out of the hose like my other 2 geese do......it must be warm. I will keep trying with her and go from there......

Curvature of the spine??? Is this something a goose can live with???? She is able to turn her head to both sides. But I do notice when she eats she shakes her head often.
Thank you all of for being so helpful and kind.....I wish I never had put myself into this situation now.........Only time will tell......I certainly DO NOT want to keep her around if it is cruel.....yet I do know if this contraption works for her and she is content I will give her whatever time I can. This will also enable me to bring her inside at night and she can be where ever I am all I will have to do is put a towel under her to catch her droppings. This I think will be the best solution instead of confining her to that cage.

If it was stressed, sounds like capture myopathy to me. The stress causes death of muscle tissue, most often in the legs, and heart. Determined by lab work and measurement od CPK and CK values. If it is CM, there is no cure, the muscle tissue is dead and cannot be regenerated. There is also probably heart damage.

Here are a few photo's of Zippy. Sadly I made the decision to put her down. When my 2 other geese would come into the barn she tried to the point of exhaustion to stand up. I realized that the right side of her breast bone seemed indented and her spine was crooked. After reading the last post I really questioned myself on if I was doing the right thing......she was such a "Love Bug" I miss her chattering. I hope she is in a better place.
I am such an animal lover I really think I love them more then people......

I am sorry you had to make that difficult decision, it's so easy to fall in love with these creatures God made, they love unconditionally. Don't second guess yourself, you did what was best for Zippy.
