Well we had a chick attacked by something.. I was at a job interview and was called and told it has a broken but it looks like it was dislocated.. when it peep it makes a sound like the party favors when they unrolled and a spot under its wing fills up.. should I just kill it or should I see if it gets better.? It can't even walk.. help! /:

Sounds like a ruptured air sac. It might heal on its own without intervention. What was dislocated/broken?

Don't kill it yet...give the little guy a chance. Is he eating or drinking? Its his leg thats broken? Did you take it to a vet?

Im an Orthopaedic Surgeon but not for chickens. Regarding the leg, if it is dislocated--the hip I would suspect, --animals can live well with a chronically dislocated hip with just a little limp as they get used to it. Especially in a young bird-- it should adapt to it. If it is the leg, and you can splint it, it should heal very fast given the growth rate of chicks. But this is based on general principles, having no experience with broken bones in chicks...The other problem would be more life threatening I suspect.

I vote for giving the little fellow a chance. Chicks are very resilient and it may make a full recovery.

Depending on the severity of the leg injury the chick may heal or adapt to it, as others have said. I think I would see how that particular injury plays out over the next couple days. The ruptured air sac is a little more pertinent. How is the chick doing this morning?
