Please help, it’s urgent

I’m very depressed and I have nobody to turn too except my friendly backyard chicken owners here

I was examining my chicks sex, by a method by holding him/her from the head and letting his/her feet hang from a forum I read on Internet, now my chick is limping and closing his/her eyes, I tried giving it some water and sugar but it doesn’t seem to be working, out of my flock this is my most favourite chick, can someone please tell me what to do and how to save it from dying?

there are so many things out there some good some not so good, it's hard to sift through it and find the right thing to do.

water and dipped some sugar and nothing happened, it just falls on the floor but continues to open its mouth and close, I don’t think it will pull through as it doesn’t eat or drink water anymore :’(

So sorry to hear that. Honestly, unless you have a sex-link chicken, the best way to know the gender is to wait until it's 10-12 weeks old. By then the cockerels are obvious. If I understand correctly, not all breeds can be sexed by their wings, and even vent sexing isn't 100% accurate, even if one is practiced in it. Chicken keeping has a steep learning curve, that's for sure.

At this point forcing feed or water upon the chick is NOT a good idea. Do as others have suggested. Isolate the chick from the others and keep it warm. If it recovers (very likely in shock now) then you can offer feed and water.

We're all ever so anxious to learn the sex of our chicks, through the years I've learned the best way is order or purchase pullets instead of straight run. Even then you may get a surprise, another reason I have yet to attempt incubating eggs

Good idea. If you don't have a plan for extra cockerels, one should not hatch.

12-16 weeks for saddles and hackles.....crowing can happen anytime.
