This bantam was a rescue that came to me fourth-hand. The original owner got “her” has a novelty and got tired of taking care of her. She passed to different family members then to myself over the course of about 3 weeks. So along the way any knowledge about her has been lost. I also received her with an infestation of stick-tights, so she’s quarantined from my flock and being treated.

She is presumed to be a hen or a pullet. She has not laid since I have had her and no one else has reported her laying. Her comb has grown since I have received her, and her peeps have become chirps more in line with content murmuring and cackling. I made this a video so you can hear her vocalize. So I also presume she is young but close to maturity.

She is Serama-like in size but has long legs for her body size and they are blue. Yet I haven’t found any Old English Game Bantams in her size class to compare her to.

Any and all speculation is welcome as to “her” breed, sex, and age.

Hi!

"He" is a very pretty cockerel! You can tell by the large red comb, and his saddle feathers. He is very pretty! Do you have another pictures of him. At first I thought he was a porcelain d'uccle however, I did not see any markings showing that it was a d'uccle. I'm not even close to being an expert of chicken breeds. LOL

Hope this helps! He is very pretty!

Edit:
I was looking at chicken breeds online when I came across an Old English Game Blue. Here is a picture of it.

Hi!

Yep! Cockerel for sure! Those are very clear saddle feathers! Thank you for the pictures! Would you mind if I used them for an informational poster I’m making for my local 4-H on chicken gender differences? It would help a great deal as I don’t have any good pictures!

Thank you! He is a very pretty cockerel!
