Any ideas as to what breed of chickens the tan & black girls are? In September, amongst others, I ordered two Spangled Russian Orloffs & two Ameraucanas from Ideal. To my great sadness, two of my babies didn't survive their journey. The two chicks that passed were identical, and the two that survived (pictured), obviously were identical. They are still a little young to lay eggs and winter has been less than mild here in PA, to say the least, so I am sure they are in no rush. I love them regardless of what breed they are, but the curiosity is killing me!

They are not Ameraucana. They are a common example of an Easter egger. Slightly muffed and no beard. The willow shanks are common as well. They will be slim compact birds and depending on the background will lay, Pink, Green or shades of blue. They were probably labeled Americana and not ameraucana. Its a licensing thing and I don't like it, but it is what it is. Very hardy girls. I have one as well that gives us Pink eggs. A little skittish and vocal.
