The large black ones weigh somewhere close to twelve pounds now, the orange ones are around 19 weeks old.

I think theyre black australorps and red stars.

Looks like you have two Black Australorp hens and two Production Red hens - do the red hens have yellow legs? Very pretty and healthy-looking birds - congratulations!

This was my guess. The black ones came from a live poultry market where they would have been dinner very soon, they almost died when I first brought them home. Thanks to some great advice here I nursed them back to health and they are unrecognizable now compared to before. They free range all day, and love cracked corn, raisins and cherries as snacks. They are also great at keeping the bugs down.

The darker orange girl is Miss Independent, I posted about her funny behaviour earlier today. These are my first chickens and I'm in LOVE, lol.

I could be wrong but those look more like Jersey Black Giants to me. If there bottoms of their feet are yellow they are Giants.

They do have yellow soles, that would explain their weight. Are the two breeds very similar?

Looks like Black Austrolorps and Red Stars

Both are good layers. We get 85% production on both breeds here even though its been 105-110 for the last 3 weeks.
