Please help! My broody hen just hatched out 8 chicks. I reached in to check the chicks, and my arms were crawling with extremely tiny insects - presumably mites. WHAT DO I DO??

I have Permethrin 10 from Tractor Supply. Is this safe on newly hatched chicks? Dose? How to apply? Pull all bedding from coop and spray it? Apply to broody hen? How?

Any instructions on the container? It's imperative that you treat all birds, and completely clean out coop and treat coop. repeat entire procedure in 7 - 10 days. Mites will kill, especially where chicks are concerned.

OK, I've calmed down enough to read the fine print on the label. 8 oz per 12.5 gallons for poultry. Spray on roosts, walls, bedding, and birds (0.5 oz per bird). Not sure how to treat the chicks. Dampen cotton ball with insecticide and gently rub over the down? Would the chicks be protected by spraying the bedding thoroughly, letting in dry and putting them back down on the bedding, and also spraying the hen?
