My baby Fin is the most vocal keet ever loves to play. well the last 2 days he's been sleeping way more than usual. I'm worried. he is also going through his first molt. he's eating and drinking fine and is a roomate of
400
another keet who is acting fine. please tell me if its normal for him to sleep a lot during molt orr should I take action? I love him with all my heart! Please respond and thanks if you do!

Aw what a cutie! I love parakeets. I haven't had one for quite some time but I know that my current bird, a cockatiel, is much quieter and tends to nap more when he is molting, especially if it's a heavy molt.

Are your birds eyes, nose and vent clear? Do his droppings look normal? If he is otherwise bright eyed and eating/drinking ok you might just keep an eye on him for now. Maybe see if he'll eat a little hard boiled or scrambled egg for some extra protein.

A molt will stress them, so they tend to sleep, at stores that sell, stuff for molting, to help with the stress. If you have chickens they get a heavy molt, and its very stressful, where they wont lay eggs
Plus this is the first molt to your baby, just look for feathers that are on the floor of his cage.
Plus it wouldn't hurt to see a avain vet (lol except the pocket book)
and yes check his poop, and how he is breathing, plus another sign of sn ill bird is how they sleep, are they on one foot, is the head on their back, if it is then its ok. If not VET TIME, LIKE DO IT YESTERDAY KIND OF THING DONT WAIT!! BIRDS WILL HIDE SICKNESS, THEN IT MIGHT BE TO LATE.
BUT I BET ITS JUST MOLTING. :D

Thank you! Yes there are feathers EVERYWHERE! LOL everything else about him seems perfectly healthy and he's is actually back to singing and playing! Whoohoo!
