I just gave my chickens eprinex to get rid of mites and my syringe jammed up and then just squirted everything out at once on one hen! She got 1 1/2 cc and was only supposed to get 1\2. I tried to wipe some off. Will she be ok? I will feel so bad if she dies from it :(

How is she doing?

Since it was a topical application, hopefully not all got absorbed into the skin. I really don't know what would happen with an overload. I would watch her for a couple of days and see that shes eating/drinking and acting normal.

Syringes can sometimes be a pain. If I am treating multiple chickens, I use multiple syringes loaded with the correct dosage, this way I have a bit more control. I order syringes off Ebay - last time I got 1cc syringes so I could measure things more easily and they are skinny. I did have to get 100 (I think) but they came out to like .12 a piece. 100 syringes seems like a lot, but they won't spoil and come in handy.

I hope she is doing o.k. let us know!

I probably would not worry that she got 3 times the amount of medication, but if she got a very large overdose, say like 20 times the dose, you might see neurological signs of imbalance, sleepiness, vomiting, coma, and pupils not reacting to light. Ivermectin is safer in cattle, dogs, and other large animals, but can be a little more dangerous in birds, especially small pet birds. A bath with Dawn liquid soap and warm water might remove some of the medicine from her neck, lessening the amount that gets into her bloodstream. I have tried using the Ivomec in a larger syringe before, and it was difficult to control the amount given. I hope your chicken is okay. Here is a little info on ivermectin toxicity:
